Who drives it better?

Michael and Kathy drove to Isle of Palms on Thursday, February 22 to look at scooters. They had been thinking it would be pretty cool to have on our RV trips. Of course, the iconic scooter is the Vespa and with an iconic trailer it made sense to try and find a couple of these to tool around on while traveling the back roads of America. Fortunately, Jordan Chaplin, the owner of Port City Moped, had recently acquired a yellow 2008 LX50 with only 200 miles on it. It was in almost perfect condition and while Kathy didn't like the color she really loved the Vespa. And, I kinda agree with Kathy on the color because it kinda reminds me of Tweety Bird. Any who... she's not painting it right away. She wants to wait because she doesn't want to mess up a new paint job. But she is thinking of getting it painted in Chrome Silver to look like the greyhound.

Now, Kathy had never driven a motorcycle or scooter so that Sunday Michael took her out to practice. Kathy said it was not what she thought. She thought you would use the handlebars more to turn left or right vs. leaning into the turn. But Michael said she did pretty good. She didn't run over him (though she did come close), she didn't fall off and she didn't drop it so I guess she did do pretty good.

So, be honest now, Who Drives It Better?

As for Michael... he found a 2006 150 XL in Danville, VA. He lucked up too. It was in perfect condition and had been driven less than 200 miles. The color is called "Daring Plum".

Right now, it looks like it's still going to be mid-April before we pick up the greyhound. So, there should be time to for Kathy to get more training time before our next RV trip. We are planning on staying one night in Tampa after we pick up the greyhound and then we will stay 2 nights in Georgia at Gordonia-Alatamah State Park before coming back to Myrtle Beach. Then we have reservations the first week of May at Hunting Island, South Carolina. It will be this trip that we will take the scooters for the first time.

Until next time...
