Hello, Goodbye

Soon we will be saying HELLO to a new Airstream and saying GOODBYE to our ERA. With the change I had to update the look of my blog; Bobby's World. So, say Hello to the new look (be sure and take a moment to read about the artist, Z.Z.Wei) and Goodbye to the old look.

We ordered the new Airstream in January while we were in Tampa. There were so many RV's to look at. All brands and sizes were there at the RV show we went to. At first we thought we might move up to one of the new small Class A buses but the more we looked at all the choices before us we decided to get an Airstream. The iconic silver aluminum Airstream trailers have been around since 1936 when Wally Byam built the first Clipper and today 70% of all Airstreams that have been built are still on the road. And, while restoring a vintage Airstream is a pretty cool thing to do these days we decided to buy a new one.

In 2018 Airstream has 8 trailer styles to select from. We went with the largest model called the Classic ( Watch Video).

The Classic comes in four floor plans: the 30RB and the 33FB and each of these may be bought with either 2 twin beds or a queen bed.

Kathy and Michael were miles apart on which one we should get. Kathy wanted the Queen 33FB and Michael wanted the Queen 30RB. Kathy loved the bathroom in the 33FB

but Michael hated the living area design because he thought it was too dark and he wanted the living room to have the panoramic windows like the 30RB had.

Michael's Pick

Michael told me we could call the new trailer "Bobby's Man Cave" if I would go along with him. So, I did. However, Kathy thinks we should call it Bobby's Greyhound (Greyhound being from the America song). Maybe I should go with Kathy on the name since I went with Michael on the floor plan. We will see after we pick her up. When we ordered the trailer in January they said 4-6 weeks but now it looks like it will be April before she will be finished being built. Which brings up another issue. We can't pull this baby with the Miata so Michael traded in his Cadillac Escalade for a Sierra Denali with a towing package that can handle the 31' trailer.

I am going to sign off for now. Next update will be when we travel back to Tampa. Until then...it's Bobby's World.
