St. Augustine & Savannah

We left Fort Myers on Sunday, January 28 and started heading back North. We had reservations for 3 nights in St. Augustine's at Anastasia State Park at St. Augustine Beach. This was a beautiful park with Live Oaks draping across the roads and camp sites. We got setup and it started raining. It rained 1.5 inches that evening. The next day we did some sightseeing. Kathy was still sick and we drove around the historic area and also went to some of the neighboring beaches like Vilano Beach where the Castle Otttis is.

We weren't able to go in

but it is open once a month for church services.

Michael played golf one day at St. John's Golf & Country Club.

Kathy starting feeling better the last day we were in St. Augustine's and felt up to eating so Michael and Kathy ate at Harry's.

The weather here was back to being cold so they didn't eat in the courtyard but they said the food was great.

Back at the campsite Michael continues to ride his hoover board around to the camp store and take garbage to the dump site.

We left Anastasia and headed for Savannah where we had reservations at Skidaway Island State Park. We had another beautiful campsite.

We had booked the site for two nights but Kathy was tired from being sick and wanted to go on home. So we just backed the car off the trailer and headed towards Savannah for a little sightseeing and an early dinner. Kathy picked at Vic's on the River, a restaurant discovered on a Girl's Getaway .

The restaurant had been used by General Sherman’s lesser officers for housing and planning space during the Civil War. Vic's main dining room showcases a map that was hand-drawn by Union soldiers detailing Sherman’s march from Tennessee through

Georgia. The map was originally found in 1901 during a renovation of the building. Workers were removing the old finish and noticed lines drawn on the wall. A small portion of the map was preserved, while the rest was covered due to damage and wear.

The next morning we broke camp after breakfast and headed back to Myrtle Beach.

I understand we are heading back to Florida in March. We have something to pickup they tell me. Something they say I will love. What Could It BE? Well, until next time.
