Brooksville, Fla

We arrived at Brooksville, Florida (A.K.A. The Boot) on Sunday, January 14. We are about 221 miles further south from Brunswick, GA. You would think the weather would be getting some warmer but I got to say I sure am glad I have a fur coat. It's still cold but hey, it snowed in Bunn, NC on Wednesday so we aren't complaining too much.

We plan on staying at Belle Parc RV Resort through Saturday, the 20th and leave on the 21 for Fort Myers where maybe we will finally find some warmer weather.

The Resort is fairly new and all the sites have concrete pads. There are lots of long term RVers here so the Parc has many planned activities, cocktails, golf, Pickle Ball and a very nice pool.

Michael has played golf a couple of times. First at Brooksville Country Club whose Hole #12 was honored in 2011 by Golf Digest as one of the 18 “most Fun Holes of Golf in America!” Michael missed a hole in one by 4" (picture 1).

Michael played golf a second time in Brooksville at Southern Hills Plantation ( a Pete Dye Course).

He said it was a beautiful course and was really surprised at how hilly both courses were. Just not flat courses like you think of playing in Florida.

One day, Kathy and Michael went to Dade City and went pistol shooting at the Dade City Rod & Gun Club where you can shoot all day for $20.00. Michael was trying out a new handgun and Kathy was shooting her .22. Michael calls her Annie Oakley because she shoots pretty good.

On our way to Brooksville we went through Nobelton and spotted the River Ratz Cafe and decided it had to be checked out during our stay. So, one morning Michael and Kathy went and had breakfast on the Withlacoochee River. The cafe is known for their $1.25 breakfast.

The food was really good (Kathy thought the grits were fantastic) and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner 5 days a week (closed on Monday and Tuesday).

Michael even ran into one of his Lake Royale River Ratz (Guy Howe of Howes Your Pizza).

If you are in the area be sure and stop by this unique river cafe.

Michael and Kathy also went to Tampa on 2 separate days to the largest RV Super Show in the Country. I wonder if they have something on their mind involving "MY" World? (To Be Continued)

After the show they went to dinner at Eddie V's. They both said this was a really nice restaurant and Kathy now has a new favorite drink, a Gatsby Sour. Best she could determine it's very similar to a New York Sour which is made with 2 ounces bourbon, 1 ounce fresh lemon juice, and 1 ounce simple syrup and 1/2 ounce fruity red wine (such as Shiraz or Malbec) and then topped with an orange wheel and a cherry.

She said she hoped Alyssa, Angie and Frank, at the Ocean Club, can learn to make it because it was soooooo good. For dinner she ordered Caesar Salad, Crab Fried Rice with Mushrooms and Scallions and Jumbo Gulf Shrimp grilled "Oreganata Style" with Jumbo Lump Crab. And, Michael had a Caesar Salad, Au Gratin Cheddar Potatoes and a 22 oz. Prime Bone-In Ribeye topped with crab meat.

Now it's worth mentioning that their good friend Terry Browne had told them they had to try Bern's Steak House but they couldn't get a reservation until 10:30 p.m on any night of their stay. They were so disappointed because it sounded quite unique. Maybe the next time we come to Tampa in a few weeks we can get reservations. (A few weeks - WHATTTTTT??????)

Well, it's Sunday morning and we will be breaking camp soon and heading towards Fort Myers. So be sure to stay tuned to Bobby's World.
